Some nice walks

We have made it to Campbellsville,  KY and will be starting work this next week. Earlier this week I was able to get out and walk along a creek here in town. The area has done a great job maintaining this walking spot.

The sky was clear and the sun was warm. It was a beautiful day.

There goes the trail

Yesterday I went for a walk and started at the opposite end of the trail. It was sunny, clear skies, but 30 degrees cooler than my previous walk. Still loved getting out in nature, having the cool air fill my lungs and the sun warm my face.

Great fall hike

It is always nice to be able to spend time with my sister. She has some amazing places around her to get out into nature. Yesterday we checked out Esopus Bend Nature Preserve.  It covers 164 acres. There are a couple of trails that allow dogs so that is where we went. The trails were up and down, by the river, waterfalls, crunchy leaves - the perfect fall afternoon.

Nice description of the area

The last carriage road

We walked Jordan Stream Carriage Road yesterday and it completed our summer goal of walking all of them, again. There are 52 miles of walkable carriage roads. In order for us to walk all of them we had to do some sections a couple of times. In the end we walked 64.9 miles! We were lucky enough to have Terry's sister and brother-in-law along for this last walk. It was a beautiful fall day, cool temps and changing leaves. Until next year!

Lots of walking

Terry wanted to get in all the carriage roads again this summer. We have one left!! The beginning of the summer was challenging with weather and mosquitoes.  July and August were great. At this point in time we have walked over 50 miles and have just one more carriage road to walk! They are such a great place to get away from the world, take in some nature, and listen to the birds.  Here are a few views of what we have seen.

A hike with my sister in June!

It still amazes me how time flies. My sister came up for a visit in June and we celebrated some family milestones. Along with father's day it was our mom's birthday  and our parents anniversary.  We all had a really good time together sharing laughs and memories.

My sister came down to the island for a few days and we had fun driving around, relaxing in quiet places, and went for a nice hike. We went to Beech Mountain, one of my favorites.  We took Gracie and she did an amazing job. We had some good views, but the mosquitoes kept us moving at times. It is always fun to share a favorite place with one of your favorite people.
